With a personal website, you can present yourself as an expert in whatever field or niche. If you have a unique product to sell, then you can brand that product under your name as well.

2. Install WordPress on your site; it's the simplest platform to use which has flexible themes and plugins that you can use easily to create the right image for your brand. Once you've learned even a fraction of the true potential of WordPress, you'll be able to create a site that would easily catch the attention of your site visitors.

3. The money is in the list. That's a simple fact that every successful Internet marketer has learnt. Make list building a main priority in your marketing efforts. Not only will you make your first conversion, but by adding people to your list, you'll be able to create residual income by promoting affiliate products or even your own products.

4. Keep your list happy, and you'll be able to earn their trust and have a long lasting relationship with your contacts. Providing free, useful and relevant information once in a while on your site will increase your contact's trust in you significantly. Most likely, that's how you got them to subscribe to your site in the first place. Combine this method with your affiliate product promotions and you'll see higher conversion rates and revenues.

5. Use a variety of methods to get free traffic to your opt-in page or squeeze page. A squeeze page is where you have a free offer that you're giving away in exchange for an email address. Article marketing has been a very popular method to generate site traffic, but Video marketing is also gaining momentum. You can also use other social platforms such as Facebook and Twitter.

These steps are just the tip of the iceberg. By gaining more knowledge and experience you can definitely make money online. It just takes persistence and the right attitude. Don't give up if it's taking longer to see the results you've been dreaming about.
